LGM Leadership Luncheon Tue, Oct 26, 2021
On October 26th Leadership Greater Madison is hosting a leadership luncheon focused on elevating civil discourse among people of different political perspectives. At a time when polarization and a lack of tolerance for differing points of view has become all too common, we invite you as leaders to lean in to finding ways to engage differently and help bridge the political gap.
This mini-workshop featuring Braver Angels will provide some context and tips for building the skills we could all use to engage in meaningful and productive conversations with people who see things differently than we do. And, the luncheon will also introduce some valuable resources available to organizations and individuals who seek to create an environment where less divisiveness and more respectful, productive discourse is the norm.
Braver Angels is a non-profit organization that seeks to bring Americans together to bridge the partisan divide and strengthen our democratic republic. Their work is centered in grassroots organizing through networks of volunteer leaders who offer programs and a unique organizing structure to impact community life and American institutions. The root of their organizing begins in the transformation of attitudes towards each other. The foundation of all activities is referred to as patriotic-empathy: the idea that our love for our country is shown by our concern for our fellow citizens.
Come enjoy lunch, meet new people and learn some critical, contemporary leadership skills. Our world needs - and deserves - more civil discourse among its citizens and it is leaders like YOU who can make that happen.
