History & Culture Series: Dinner with Stu Levitan, Madison in 1968 Wed, Nov 7, 2018 — 5:45PM

Join best-selling author Stu Levitan at the Madison Club for a 50-year anniversary discussion of Madison in the year 1968. Madison: 1968 will be an illustrated talk on the state of the city fifty years ago, adapted from Stu's new book Madison in the Sixties (Wisconsin Historical Society Press 2018). Using archival photos and research, he will tell important stories long forgotten -- about progress for a civic auditorium at Monona Terrace, race relations hitting a new low, political protest turning destructive, and more. A question-and-answer session will follow.

Stuart Levitan, an award-winning print and broadcast journalist and long-time local official, has been a mainstay of Madison media and government since 1975. He is the author of Madison: The Illustrated Sesquicentennial History, Vol. 1, has written extensively for local and national newspapers and magazines, and produces the Madison in the Sixties podcast on WORT-FM. His newest book, Madison in the Sixties, chronicles the birth of modern Madison with style and well-researched substance.

Event price is $50 per person and includes dinner. Registration is open to all Madison Club members, and guests are welcome.
